Miami Sedation Dentistry For Painless Smile Enhancement

Sedation dentistry is the newest buzz phrase in cosmetic dentistry, but many people don’t understand exactly what it entails. Practiced by many dentists in Miami, sedation dentistry includes any dental procedures carried out under sedation. In some cases, the patient is under general anesthesia, but more often, the dentist performs the procedures while the patient is conscious, but under the influence of anti-anxiety medications.

Miami sedation dentists may use any of several different types of sedatives to help
patients overcome their anxiety and relax. According to national statistics, dentists use nitrous oxide, also known as “laughing gas,” about 35 percent of the time when doing sedation dentistry. Miami dentists approach that same average, however, office of Miami cosmetic dentist Howard Hoffman, DDS is an exception. There, the preference for conscious sedation dentistry is oral sedation dentistry. With oral sedation dentistry, you simply take one little pill before your visit and lose all your anxiety and panic about visiting the dentist.

If you’ve resigned yourself to living with crooked teeth, missing teeth or a smile that isn’t all it could be because you’re afraid of pain, oral sedation is the answer you’ve been looking for. Under sedation, the Miami cosmetic dentist can whiten your teeth, realign your smile, repair gaps and broken teeth and perform nearly any other type of cosmetic dentistry – and you won’t feel a thing. In fact, oral sedation is so effective that many patients don’t even recall the procedure.

What kind of makeover does your smile need? Psychologists say that an open, warm smile has a positive effect on how others perceive you. People who smile often are more likely to be hired when they apply for jobs and more likely to be remembered positively by the people around them. Broken, crooked or chipped teeth – or even a smile that isn’t as bright as it could be – can make you self-conscious and affect your smile, and that, in turn, can affect how others see you. If you live in Miami, sedation dentistry is an option if you need to repair chipped or broken teeth, fix old dental repairs, straighten your smile, adjust the spacing of your teeth or just brighten the color of your teeth. Don’t let your fear of the dentist stand in the way of a bright, beautiful smile.

An Aventura Dentist Makes Cosmetic Dentistry Painless

Life is hard on your teeth. Over the years, your teeth may have yellowed or darkened, become stained by tobacco, wine and coffee or become broken or chipped because of accidents. The end result can be a smile that leaves you embarrassed and uncomfortable – but not uncomfortable enough to book an appointment with a cosmetic dentist. If fear of the pain and discomfort awaiting you keeps you out of the dentist’s chair, then one Aventura dentist wants to talk to you.

Dr. Howard Hoffman specializes in making dentistry accessible to everyone, especially to those who’ve stayed away from the dentist’s office because of childhood memories of the drill and the screaming pain associated with fillings and extractions. In his Miami cosmetic dentistry office, you’ll be treated to the dental experience you never believed existed. As a specialist in sedation dentistry, Dr. Hoffman has helped hundreds of patients overcome their fear of the dental chair and regain the smile they used to have – or always wished they had.

Much of the pain and far associated with a visit to the dentist’s office arises from tension and fear. Sedation dentistry nullifies that fear with a simple pill to help you relax before you even arrive at the office. With the help of sedation dentistry, Dr. Hoffman can accomplish in one afternoon what might otherwise take several visits. Whether you need tooth whitening, scaling, tooth extractions in preparation for dentures or any other cosmetic dentistry service, sedation dentistry can make your experience a painless one.

How It Works

The dentist will write you a prescription for a mild sedative, which you’ll take at home about an hour before your scheduled appointment. You have a friend drive you to the Aventura dental office for your appointment. Before beginning any work, the doctor will evaluate your level of sedation before beginning any work. In rare cases, you may be given a second dose of the sedative, or, for more extensive work, undergo deeper anesthesia. Depending on the type of work that the dentist has to do, he may choose to use nitrous oxide instead of an oral sedative.

Once the dentist has finished his work, you’ll be observed for a short time before you can go home. If you’ve been sedated, you’ll need a ride from a friend. If the work was performed under nitrous oxide, you can usually drive yourself home.

If your mouth needs work you’ve been putting off for fear of the pain and panic of sitting in a dentist’s chair, call the Aventura cosmetic dentistry office of Dr. Howard Hoffman for a consultation today.

Aventura Dentist Offers Sedation Dentistry

If you’ve been putting off important dental work because you’re afraid of the dentist, sedation dentistry may offer a solution for you. Sedation dentistry, one of the many dental services offered by Aventura dentist Howard Hoffman, DDS, has helped thousands of people overcome their fear of the dentist in order to create a healthier, more natural and more beautiful smile.

Who is Sedation Dentistry For?

Sedation dentistry is for anyone who has put off seeing a dentist because of anxiety related to dental work. If you:

• would love a straighter smile but can’t cope with the sounds and scents of the dentist’s office
• wish your teeth were whiter but have had trouble with a dentist working around your mouth in the past
• suffer from temperomandibular joint pain but would rather deal with the headaches than sit in the dentist’s chair
• would rather give up steak, corn on the cob and crunchy foods than make an appointment with the dentist

you might be the perfect candidate for Aventura sedation dentistry.

What Procedures can be Done Under Sedation?

An Aventura sedation dentist can perform nearly any dental procedure under sedation. That includes any general dentistry procedures, from teeth cleaning to root canals, as well as restorative and cosmetic dentistry. With sedation dentistry in Aventura, you can have a complete cosmetic smile makeover in just one or two visits.

What are the Advantages of Sedation Dentistry?

Because you’re completely relaxed during the procedure, the dentist can perform more extensive dental work than he could do under other circumstances. That means fewer dental visits and less time to complete restorative work or dental surgery that often takes many appointments. In addition, because you’re not “put to sleep,” you don’t run the risks associated with general anesthesia.

If you’ve been putting off that new smile or living with dental pain and the effects of years of neglect, contact an Aventura dentist to discuss your suitability for sedation dentistry. The only thing you’ve got to lose is your fears.

What is Sedation Dentistry?

Patients who select Sedation Dentistry or Oral Conscious Sedation will not be given general anesthesia in order to alleviate the pain or anxiety associated with dental visits. This latest advancement in pharmacology allows individuals to take sedative or a pill just before your scheduled dental appointment. This pill will act as pain relief and also anxiety relief. Many individuals are so relaxed that they have no recollection of the dental experience.

Sedation dentistry in Aventura is popular. Dr. Hoffman is an Aventura sedation dentist that is experienced and qualified in this line of work. Patients receiving dental work will be informed not to eat or drink 12 hours before the appointment. Water may be consumed, however. Just before the appointment the pill form of the sedative will be consumed by the patient. Some patients may require more sedation before the dental work is performed. Another pill will be administered is this is the case. During the procedure, the dentist will carefully monitor the patient’s heart rate, blood pressure and other vitals. Because the pill is a sedative, the patient will not be alert enough to drive. Patients will need to make alternative arrangements for arrival and departure. Patients will not be able to return to work after the procedure. Please schedule a full day for any type of sedation dentistry work. Assistance will be needed while under the influence of the sedative. Most individuals are lucid enough to use basic common sense and ask for help when needed.
