Aventura Dentist Puts a Smile On Your Face Painlessly

A warm, winning smile is often a ticket to success, but for some people, getting that smile is an exercise in pain and frustration. If you’re not satisfied with your teeth because they are stained, crooked, broken or just don’t feel right, Aventura dentist Howard Hoffman, DDS can work with you to create the perfect smile for your face.

What Can a Smile Makeover Do For You?

The smile on your face helps create the first impression you make on people. If your smile is hesitant because you’re embarrassed by crooked or stained teeth, the people you meet could be forming an erroneous opinion of you. Whiter teeth may not make you a better person, but when you’re not worried about people judging you on mistakes made by a previous dentist or the toll that years of coffee drinking have taken on your teeth, you’ll smile more often – and smiling people appear friendlier, more trustworthy and more approachable. In short, a beautiful smile helps you show the world who you really are.

Smile Makeover by a Cosmetic Dentist

Miami gives you lots of reasons to smile, and the Aventura dentistry office of Dr. Hoffman can help shape your smile into one you’ll love to show off. The services offered by cosmetic dentists range from basic whitening to completely reshaping your teeth and your smile. Here’s what an experienced cosmetic dentistry artist can do for you:

• Make your teeth whiter and brighter
The Aventura cosmetic dentist offers several different types of tooth whitening services that can get brighten dingy gray or yellowed teeth and make your smile younger and more appealing.

• Even out the spacing between your teeth
Whether it’s a gap in your front teeth or overcrowding that makes your smile less attractive, adult braces and invisible braces can help re-align your teeth so that your smile is even and straight.

• Alter the shape, size and color of your teeth
Porcelain veneers and tooth bonding can reshape individual teeth or your entire mouth so that they fit your face more beautifully. A cosmetic dentist will evaluate your smile and help you choose the best way to repair a chipped tooth or cover stained teeth that make you hesitant to smile.

• Help realign your jaw and bite
It’s not all about looks – misaligned and missing teeth can affect the way you chew, the way you speak and the way you sleep at night. A complete smile makeover by an Aventura cosmetic dentist may help you sleep better and even rid you of chronic pain caused by misaligned jaw bones and muscles.

Aventura Dentist Offers Sedation Dentistry

If you’ve been putting off important dental work because you’re afraid of the dentist, sedation dentistry may offer a solution for you. Sedation dentistry, one of the many dental services offered by Aventura dentist Howard Hoffman, DDS, has helped thousands of people overcome their fear of the dentist in order to create a healthier, more natural and more beautiful smile.

Who is Sedation Dentistry For?

Sedation dentistry is for anyone who has put off seeing a dentist because of anxiety related to dental work. If you:

• would love a straighter smile but can’t cope with the sounds and scents of the dentist’s office
• wish your teeth were whiter but have had trouble with a dentist working around your mouth in the past
• suffer from temperomandibular joint pain but would rather deal with the headaches than sit in the dentist’s chair
• would rather give up steak, corn on the cob and crunchy foods than make an appointment with the dentist

you might be the perfect candidate for Aventura sedation dentistry.

What Procedures can be Done Under Sedation?

An Aventura sedation dentist can perform nearly any dental procedure under sedation. That includes any general dentistry procedures, from teeth cleaning to root canals, as well as restorative and cosmetic dentistry. With sedation dentistry in Aventura, you can have a complete cosmetic smile makeover in just one or two visits.

What are the Advantages of Sedation Dentistry?

Because you’re completely relaxed during the procedure, the dentist can perform more extensive dental work than he could do under other circumstances. That means fewer dental visits and less time to complete restorative work or dental surgery that often takes many appointments. In addition, because you’re not “put to sleep,” you don’t run the risks associated with general anesthesia.

If you’ve been putting off that new smile or living with dental pain and the effects of years of neglect, contact an Aventura dentist to discuss your suitability for sedation dentistry. The only thing you’ve got to lose is your fears.

What Can Be Done?

What is Sedation Dentistry?

Patients who select Sedation Dentistry or Oral Conscious Sedation will not be given general anesthesia in order to alleviate the pain or anxiety associated with dental visits. This latest advancement in pharmacology allows individuals to take sedative or a pill just before your scheduled dental appointment. This pill will act as pain relief and also anxiety relief. Many individuals are so relaxed that they have no recollection of the dental experience.

Sedation dentistry in Aventura is popular. Dr. Hoffman is an Aventura sedation dentist that is experienced and qualified in this line of work. Patients receiving dental work will be informed not to eat or drink 12 hours before the appointment. Water may be consumed, however. Just before the appointment the pill form of the sedative will be consumed by the patient. Some patients may require more sedation before the dental work is performed. Another pill will be administered is this is the case. During the procedure, the dentist will carefully monitor the patient’s heart rate, blood pressure and other vitals. Because the pill is a sedative, the patient will not be alert enough to drive. Patients will need to make alternative arrangements for arrival and departure. Patients will not be able to return to work after the procedure. Please schedule a full day for any type of sedation dentistry work. Assistance will be needed while under the influence of the sedative. Most individuals are lucid enough to use basic common sense and ask for help when needed.

Types of Teeth Whitening Procedures in Miami: Part 2

Teeth Veneers

Veneers can be used to whiten teeth and generally have the best results of any of the Miami teeth whitening procedures. A material, usually porcelain, is attached to the teeth and gives a natural, yet much whiter appearance than the natural tooth. Tooth veneers can be bonded to one or more teeth to create whiter and more symmetrical teeth. Veneers are usually recommended for individuals who have severely damaged teeth or individuals who need a long lasting teeth whitening solution, such as those in socially demanding occupations.

Internal Bleaching

On teeth that have been root treated, internal bleaching is sometimes performed. Internal bleaching consists of drilling a small hole down the center of each tooth and filling it with a bleaching agent. The teeth are then sealed to contain the bleaching substance. Generally, the bleaching agent is removed about a week later. The holes in the teeth are then sealed with a white filling to mimic the natural appearance of the teeth. The internal bleaching procedure is painless because the inside of the teeth do not contain nerves.

Whitening Gel

Whitening gel procedures are very similar to laser procedures, but a special light is used rather than a laser. A clear gel is painted onto the teeth and a light is focused on the patient's open mouth. Tiny crystals in the gel help focus and concentrate the light onto the teeth, creating a much stronger whitening procedure than the light alone. This is a very fast procedure, which generally requires only one session in the dentist's office. Sessions typically last about two hours.

Miami Teeth Whitening Tips - Teeth Whitening in Miami

Miami Teeth Whitening Tips

Types of Teeth Whitening Procedures:

White teeth can lead to confidence and a brighter smile. Those with yellow or discolored teeth are frequently searching for ways to make their teeth lighter and more attractive. There are a number of over the counter teeth whitening products, however, these are nowhere near as effective as professional Miami teeth whitening at a dental office. There are several professional teeth whitening techniques available, the common types are outlined below.

Professional Bleaching:

Professional bleaching is achieved through the use of either hydrogen peroxide or carbamide peroxide. Bleaching works by allowing oxygen to reach the enamel of the tooth, which causes it to lighten. The dentist will take an impression of the patient's teeth and use it to create a tray that will fit snugly over the patient's teeth and be used during the bleaching procedures. Professional bleaching must be done in stages and takes about 3 to 4 weeks to complete. Each bleaching session lasts about 30 minutes to an hour.

Laser Whitening:

Laser whitening is performed in a dentist's office with a rubber dam being placed over the gums. The teeth are then coated with a bleaching agent. After the teeth are coated, a laser is used to activate the bleaching agent and intensify the results of the formula. The results of laser whitening are generally very impressive and teeth are usually lightened by five or six shades. Laser whitening can usually be achieved through a single visit to the dentist's office. This procedure is the fastest of all teeth whitening procedures available.

Next month we will continue to explore different options for teeth whitening in Miami.
